Satchel Bag

A satchel is timeless for a reason: it was originally built to be dependable, structured, and ready for daily use. The YVN 221 returns to that purpose with Japanese pit-tanned Himeji leather—extra thick, firm, and made to deepen in character with time. At first it feels crisp and solid, then gradually warms and settles into your routine without losing its shape. We added modern travel-minded details—an internal divider for documents or a notebook computer, plus a trolley sleeve on the back—so it works for commuting, flights, and long weekends. Finished in undyed natural leather that will slowly turn richer and darker, the 221 is designed to be carried for years, not seasons.

Why it’s different

Not just leather. Not just a bag. A companion.

Built to last:

Hand-stitching creates a stronger, more serviceable seam structure than typical machine stitching.

One-of-one character:

Vegetable-tanned leather develops a patina unique to your daily life—scratches, shine, and color deepen over time.

Sculpted structure:

Select designs use wet-molding techniques to hold shape with a natural, architectural curve.

Finish you can feel: Burnished edges finished with wax are part of the signature—time-intensive, but worth it.

Materials :

We work with trusted tanneries in Japan and Italy, choosing vegetable-tanned leather made with natural tannins (e.g., quebracho, mimosa) for a distinct aroma and a surface that grows richer with use.

Our bestsellers

Natural marks, loved as proof:
Because leather is a natural material, some pieces may show small scars, wrinkles, tonal shifts, or surface character from life and tanning. We don’t call them flaws—we call them proof that your piece is real, rare, and never exactly repeatable. Those quiet details are what make it yours, and we want you to feel satisfied every time you carry it.

Pit tanning, still practiced by a few:
Only a small number of tanneries in Japan and Italy still use traditional pit tanning—slow vats that give leather a distinctive firmness and backbone. In Japan, “skin” (皮) becomes “leather” (革) through tanning—both read kawa, but the meaning changes as it becomes something made to endure. YVN is built around that philosophy, primarily using pit-tanned, vegetable-tanned leather.

Sustainability note :
We prioritize materials and processes that respect craft longevity—products designed to be kept, repaired, and used for years.

Small-batch, by design:
Our leathers are slow to produce and difficult to scale—so we don’t try to.
YVN releases in limited drops, with careful QC and consistent craftsmanship. When a drop sells out, the next one takes time.
